Referee Information

Referee Responsibilities
  • All referees are required to arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the scheduled game start.  Please do not be late.  Check in players and coaches, perform field checks, etc. well before the scheduled match start time.  All matches should start on time, if not early.
  • All referees must be professionally dressed in full uniform - referee jersey tucked in at all times, in a color distinct from all players, with updated badge always displayed, black shorts, black knee socks, and soccer cleats.
  • It is the responsibility of the referee to bring all necessary equipment to every match, including whistle, stop watch, pencil, red/yellow cards, and coin.  Match cards and AR flags are available for borrow at BAYSA Soccer Complex.
  • Completed match cards should be placed in the proper receptacle in the BAYSA net room at the close of each game day.
  • Referees are responsible for setting and putting away corner flags for each match.
  • All red cards, yellow cards, or severe injuries should be reported as immediately as possible within 24 hours to the BAYSA referee assignor and PAWest.  Please contact the BAYSA referee assignor by the end of the game day for the required form.
Referee Scheduling Information
  • Referee schedules will be posted bi-weekly throughout the season.
  • The schedules will be finalized and posted on this page every other Thursday, no later than 8 p.m.
  • Any requests for time off should be placed in writing by the referee him or herself, and will be accepted via text or email only by the referee assignor.  All requests must be received by noon Wednesday, the day before the new schedule is posted.
  • Last minute call offs, no shows, or tardiness will result in fewer game assignments going forward, and frequent infractions may result in dismissal from the BAYSA game schedule completely.
  • Trading games or positions between referees without consulting the referee assignor in advance is not permissible.
  • Games are assigned as fairly and evenly as possible taking into account referee age, experience, seniority with BAYSA, accountability, and availability.
  • Referee assignor, Amy Lemmon, can be contacted via phone or text 724-947-5305 or email BaysaReferee@gmail.com.
