BAYSA Travel Team Rules

All coaches must notify the BAYSA Board of Directors their intention to coach travel soccer for BAYSA, in writing, by the deadline for the upcoming season.  The deadline for a fall season is May 1 of that calendar year.  The deadline for a spring season is December 1 of the previous calendar year.  This is required every season.
The BAYSA board must approve all travel coaches in advance.  Notification of approval will be by June 1 for fall and January 2 for spring.
To determine coach approval, the board will take the following (but not limited to) factors into account:
  • Coaching licenses held
  •  Years of coaching for BAYSA and other programs
  •  Years of soccer played
  •  Coach is the best fit for the association
The board has the right to assign coaches to the age level with the overall goals of the association in mind.
All travel coaches must attend a minimum of one general meeting per season, one meeting from January – June as well as one meeting from July – December.
Teams must roster a minimum of two more players than what is played with on the field at that age level.  Ex. U14 starts nine, so must have a minimum of 11 players on the roster.  The entire team must be registered and rostered by the late registration deadline each season.  Coaches are strongly encouraged to recruit their team as the previous season is occurring.
Teams will be made up 75% of the birth year of age group or a year younger.  Example (2001 age group would be 75% 2001 and 2002’s.
To be eligible to play on a BAYSA travel team, a player must have at least played 1 previous season in-house for BAYSA or at the least the equivalent for another club.
Players in the guest pool cannot have played travel in a previous season.  Players can only be in the guest pool for 1 season.  Once they have appeared as a guest, during the following seasons they must be rostered in order to play.
Dual rostering should only take place if a team needs another player.  If they are at the maximum, a player cannot be dual rostered.
If coaching multiple teams, please make sure you have enough assistants to cover in case of scheduling conflict.  Once the initial travel schedule is released, no changes will be made due to multiple game conflicts of coaches other team.
